History of Ballerines

Ballerines was founded by Mr. Sudhi Fronteiro on April 17, 1994, in Mangalore, India. With the unwavering support of family, friends, and well-wishers, Mr. Sudhi transformed Ballerines into a renowned name in dance and event management. Over the years, the academy has proudly trained over 7,500 students, spanning all age groups—from children to youth and adults.
Ballerines began humbly, with a batch of just 10 students at the residence of the legendary singer and composer, the late Mr. Wilfy Rebimbus. As its popularity grew, the academy relocated to larger premises, marking the start of a remarkable journey. Mr. Sudhi also served as the choreographer for the celebrated “Wilfy Nite” for eight consecutive years, showcasing his talent in Mangalore and across the Gulf region.

In 2000, Ballerines expanded internationally, opening its first branch in Salmiya, Kuwait. This branch quickly established itself as one of Kuwait’s premier dance academies, offering a wide range of dance packages for children, teenagers, and adults. The academy catered to varying skill levels, from beginners to professionals, and embraced diverse styles, including freestyle, ballroom, stage, and floor dance.

Ballerines is widely recognized for its signature home productions, known as the Ballerines Showcase. These captivating performances have featured various student groups, including the Ballerines Kittens, Twinkles, Entertainers, and Oldies. The first Showcase, held in 2005 at the British School Auditorium, drew a full house of 250 attendees. Subsequent productions, such as “This Is Life… The Show Must Go On” (2006) and “Illusion… From Dark Into the Light” (2007), broke records, culminating in a 1,000-strong audience at the American International School.

In 2008, Ballerines further cemented its reputation by co-organizing India Day at Doha Entertainment City in Kuwait. This record-breaking event, held in collaboration with Nirvana Entertainment, attracted an audience of 14,000 and featured performances by Bollywood and Indian pop icons, including Neha Kakkar, Panna Gill, and M.C. Vikram.

Beyond its home productions, Ballerines has graced numerous prestigious stages across India, Kuwait, and the Gulf, performing alongside Bollywood stars like Nana Patekar, Vivek Oberoi, Revathi, and Suhasini Maniratnam, as well as music legends like Alka Yagnik, Sukhbir, Shayne Hyrapiet, and Rahul Vaidya.

Ballerines diversified its offerings over the years, venturing into corporate shows, exhibitions, roadshows, wedding planning, and event management. In 2016, the company returned to its roots in Mangalore, launching new initiatives such as the Ballerines Gaming Zone, Party Venue, and Ballerines Kreations – Event Planners.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 brought unprecedented challenges, leading to the closure of several Ballerines ventures. However, Ballerines Kreations remained resilient and continues to thrive. In 2024, Ballerines introduced KAIN Digital, a digital marketing subsidiary that designs websites and manages social media platforms, including the current Ballerines website.
